What You Need to Get You Through The First Trimester

Getting through the first trimester can be really daunting for some and I wanted to put together this first trimester survival kit of the items that I think are necessities for those first few months! It can be really hard when not many know that you are pregnant and not feeling well, it can be isolating and difficult! I hope that these items help you feel better along the way!

What You Need to Get You Through The First Trimester

1.) Vitamin B6 || Recommended dose is 10-25 mg THREE times a day. Do not exceed >100 mg per day. I have suffered from pretty significant nausea (that debilitates me for several hours a day) with all of my pregnancies (worse with my 3rd and 4th) and have tried just about everything (that is safe) to try and make it better. I have found that CARBS & Vitamin B6 are my go-to’s. It truly is about survival in those first 14 weeks, especially if you are running after other kids at home! I have linked a few articles about Vitamin B6 below as well as a study about Diclegis which is a combination medication that contains Vitamin B6 AND doxylamine. I have tried this and REALLY did not like it because it made me feel hungover in the morning, but I know many that it has worked for so it’s definitely worth a try!

Vitamin B6 is effective therapy for nausea and vomiting of pregnancy

Doxylamine succinate–pyridoxine hydrochloride (Diclegis) for the management of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy: an overview

Top foods that contain B6: Sunflower seeds, pistachios (and also hazelnuts, walnuts, peanuts, cashews), poultry, prunes/raisins, lean beef, bananas, avocados, spinach!

2.) Preggie Pops || I LOVED these with my 1,2,3 pregnancies. For whatever reason, they weren’t a huge hit for me this time around but I do love the souriness of these! They would get me through the day!

3.) Emesis Bags || So I have these in my car for my little guy who gets car sick a lot but they come in serious handy when you have morning sickness too. They easily fit right into your purse!!!

4.) Maeband Waist Extender || These are AWESOME when you still want to wear your pants but they can’t button!

5.) Body Armour || A great way to stay hydrated, especially if are experiencing a lot of vomiting! SO many of you swore by these when it comes to increasing your milk supply while nursing as well!

6.) Prenatal Vitamins || I have tried MANY Prenatal vitamins and these are the BEST ones that I can tolerate. There may be a few other “better options” out there but they are SO gross and you need to take about 6 of them. I would NEVER be able to swallow those gross pills right now so these gummies are where it’s at! These have recently been revamped and they have everything you need!

7.) Pickles || Really any kind of pickles! You know that NASTY metallic taste (also known as “Dysgeusia”)  that you always have in your mouth (thanks hormones!)? The reason you are probably drawn to foods with vinegar in them is because it helps to banish that nasty metallic taste in your mouth!

8.) Sea-Band || MANY of you swear that these help! I should really have tried these but I didn’t!

9.) Comfortable Leggings || My all time favorites are 50% off and SO incredibly comfortable!!

10.) Daily Harvest Smoothies || I try to drink one of these every morning with coconut water added to them for hydration! I have had a really hard time adding in veggies and this is a great way to do it! Get three free cups with the code: lynzyandco
