READ MY PREVIOUS UPDATES HERE:
Current weight: 138 (down from 162 at my max during pregnancy) I started out at around 124 pounds before getting pregnant.
Diet/Exercise: I am not currently working out yet but I do plan on doing a 30 day program (made specifically for postpartum mamas at the end of this month! You can all join me and there will even be a dedicated FB group where we can encourage each other and ask the trainer questions too! I will keep you all updated on that! As far as diet, I am trying to eat the healthiest I can, which is hard while breastfeeding because I am constantly hungry. I just got my daily harvest smoothies in the mail yesterday though and I am so excited to try them out!
How I feel physically: Great! Only thing is that I can feel a bit of bladder prolapse (which I had pretty severely with Olivia). Apparently, because of the hormone shift, this can be more common and it got 100% better once I stopped breastfeeding with Olivia. I am just hoping it doesn’t get any worse than it is right now!
How I feel emotionally: Amazing. Honestly, this is the best I have felt emotionally after any of my babies. I think it has everything to do with getting the breastfeeding down from the beginning. It was SO hard when it hurt like hell every time my babies latched for the first two months. This has been such a smooth process and I am so grateful for that!
Above image is before I used the corset at all 🙂
Are you using any postpartum girdle/band? YES! You can read all about my Bellefit corset here! I have a coupon code in that post for you as well! All you have to do is purchase your corset through that post to get $20 off 🙂 I also emailed the owner asking her about if I need to exchange for a smaller size and she offered a few tips on how to know if you need a smaller size in the corset over time:
Wear your Girdle and fully relax your abdomen/belly. If you don’t feel any compression/push back from the Girdle then it might be too big to wear.
If you are able to easily pull the closures in the front past each other, then you’ll know it is working and it’s too big to continue wearing.
The fabric in Bellefit Girdles sometimes stretches between washes. Washing and drying your girdle will help it reclaim its elasticity. If the Girdle feels loose even after washing, then it might be too big to continue wearing.
Lastly, enter your new measurements in the Bellefit Sizing Calculator. This will confirm which size you should be wearing now that you feel ready to size down.
Breastfeeding update: We are doing SO well! He eats every two hours during the day (to ensure that he goes longer spurts at night) and we are still working on switching our days to nights because he sleeps a lot during the day, but everything is a process and it takes time 🙂
Miles’ current weight & progress: He was 11.5 pounds two days ago! He is growing SO fast and I almost want to cry thinking about it. Why can’t they just stay tiny forever?! We also gave Miles his first bath this week! 🙂
Favorite postpartum clothing item: This cardigan is my favorite right now because of the way it flows in front. It makes it VERY easy to drape right over baby to nurse without having to put the silly nursing covers over your head! I LOVE it. This zipper top is also pretty darn amazing to nurse in too 😉
Favorite postpartum item (general): Usually these items are the same every week! Sticking with the corset, colace AND THESE underwear. I don’t know why I just love them so much. VERY comfortable and perfect for postpartum.
Favorite baby item currently: I changed over to the ergobaby swaddle and I LOVE it. It doesn’t ride up into the neck like the HALO sleep sack did and I love how you can change the diaper without un-swaddling the arms! GENIUS! A few people also mentioned the Miracle Swaddle, which I am going to try as well!
How the girls are adjusting: Olivia is still having a bit of a rough time (not sure if it’s directly related to the baby or not) but she is crying before bed every night and she is scared to go to sleep in her room. We are going to do a massive room switch and put her with Ellie (where our guest room is now) in the next few weeks!
Advice for those of you who are in postpartum week 4: My husband was reading this post and says to tell you all to drink a glass of wine while taking a LOOOONG shower. So that is the advice for this week 😉 Also, maybe he is suggesting the long shower so that I take a hint? Maybe I stink?
