This post is written in collaboration with Backcountry. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that I love!
We have a ton of hiking trails near us here in CT and now that the snow has dissipated, it’s time to start enjoying them again! One of the most important hiking items that is worth investing in is a lightweight rain jacket. A jacket that is easily packable into a suitcase without taking up any room and one that keeps you dry when the rains come! This jacket also happens to be a pretty darn good price! I recently took my little man and Winston out on a morning hike while the girls were in school!
The Best Lightweight Rain Jacket
This rain jacket
is currently on sale for nearly 50% off! My favorite part about this jacket
is that it rolls up and can be stored INTO THE HAND POCKET when it’s not in use. It’s incredibly travel friendly and it is WATERPROOF and not water resistant – which is important for keeping you completely dry. There are air vents that you can unzip when you start to get hot, which is important if you are doing some intense running or hiking! I am wearing a size XSmall and it runs true to size!
This Osprey carrier
is what we used to hike through the Swiss & Austrian alps! I absolutely love it and our kids seem to love being able to see the world from up there too! It can carry a child up to 48 pounds. We carried our three year old in this and we carried our little man in a regular carrier!
I have never owned a specific pair of hiking shoes, only running sneakers that I took on hikes. These hiking shoes
make a HUGE difference when it comes to terrain. It’s easier to grasp footing and honestly, a lot safer, especially when you have a child on your back! These run slightly big in my opinion and I would size down half a size!
We are getting pretty excited for our trip coming up in August! This year we are traveling to Copenhagen first (my cousin is currently living there and will be giving us the grand tour)! After about 5 days we will be flying up to Norway and traveling through the country, stopping at three different places along the way! Many think we are crazy but I am telling you, there is nothing better than traveling with kids! The best advice I can give is to have NO expectations, go with the flow and just have fun – no matter what the situation is! We plan to do a lot of hiking in Norway so I will definitely be carrying along this gear with me!
