Living Room Progress

As you all know, I went a bit crazy about two months ago and wanted to completely revamp our living room. I despised the setup and I felt like it was blocked off rather than being a welcoming, wide open space. I decided to give one of our IKEA couches to a friend and kept the other one for our basement. As much as I hated the thought of a tv over our fireplace, I finally caved and decided it was the only way the set up was going to work and flow well. I wanted to put a couch on our long wall with our kids photos above it and this was the only way we could do that. I heard about the Samsung Frame TVs awhile ago but hadn’t really given them a second thought until a few of you mentioned that it may be a good way to mount a tv above the fireplace! I love that it’s basically flush against the wall, has an interchangeable frame (we chose the walnut color) and you can display any art you want! Our contractor came by to help us with the wiring that had to go through the wall and all the way over to our built in bookcase. It was about a 2-3 hour job and we would have never been able to do it ourselves but I am ecstatic that we don’t have to look at any cords coming from the TV. The best thing about this TV is that it has this smart box where you can connect everything to, so there is only one cord from the TV to the smart box.

Eventually I will be switching out this recliner (it’s going in the basement) with a nice big leather chair because I think it will make a nice statement in this corner! The built ins used to be a place for just decor and I finally came to my senses and made it into a bookcase where all the books in our home could live. Right now we have an exercise bike in the corner that is not shown and it’s actually being picked up today (it was a loaned bike to try out) and I will just be keeping that space empty until I can figure out what I want to do with it! The large armoire is where all the kids arts & crafts live.

I am also thinking of maybe placing a smaller rug underneath the piano to make it a cozier spot but I cannot make up my mind about what that rug should look like. Once I update that area and the leather chair and add a awesome fan/light, I will add those images to this post 🙂 For those that are curious about the pictures above the couch, I got the idea from Chris Loves Julia and my frames/prints are from Artifact Uprising (20 x 30 size)! I have a quick tutorial on how I took the pictures over on my saved Instagram Story highlights under “home” if you want to check it out!
