This post is brought to you be LIFE cereal. All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that I 100% love and believe in.
Olivia is approaching the age where it’s becoming really fun to interact and she what she has to say about the activities we do. When I told her that we were going to build an indoor fort together, she was ecstatic. Seeing and experiencing things through your children’s eyes is the most amazing thing motherhood has to offer. It allows you to once again appreciate all the little things and it teaches us that these little things are the most important. Spending quality time with our loved ones and creating memories that they will remember for the rest of their lives.
You may think that building the ultimate indoor fort is easy, but for me it wasn’t! It’s been SO long since I’ve built a fort (circa 1995 or so) and I had a bit of a rough start! LIFE sent along a few items for us to use to put together our fort and the rest of it was up to us! Here is how I created and built the ultimate indoor fort:
What you will need:
2 tent poles
lots of blankets
2 large bed sheets
lots of pillows
high back chairs (4-6 of them) +/- back of a couch
lanterns/flash lights/string of lights
How to build the ultimate fort:
Step 1: We put together the two tent poles (these replaceable ones here) and then ties them together in the middle so that they formed an X.
Step 2: Grab your chairs and couch. In our case, we used two high back chairs and a smaller sofa. You can use 2 high back chairs on either side (or 3), or even 3 high back chairs and a bigger couch if you wanted to back the fort even larger!
Step 3: Place the tent poles in a X position over the chairs/couch and throw the sheets over the top, securing the sheet where you need to with the clothespins.
Step 4: Drape your string lighting (if you have it) over the top front end of the fort
Step 5: Layer your blankets on the floor of the fort along with all the pillows you can find!
Step 6: Cuddle in your fort with your lanterns, flash lights, books and toys! You can even grab a bowl of LIFE Cereal to munch on while you’re in there! LIFE cereal is Olivia’s new breakfast obsession and they have a pumpkin spice flavor that is SO good. Trust me on this. You need to check it out 😉
Your new indoor fort is a place where memories can be made and life can be enjoyed to the very fullest. Leave all your troubles and current life stressors behind as you enter and make this be your place to spend time with your children. Too often I let the stress of certain days come between me and my time with my kids. Looking back on days when I was overwhelmed with bills to pay or who was going to watch them when I go to work the next day. It’s so important to let all it go and be in the moment with our kids. It’s also emotionally beneficial for us as well and I always feel better after an hour of pretend play with my spunky three year old! The words that come out of her mouth these days are hilarious!
