How to Avoid Razor Burn & Bumps in the Summer

This post is written in collaboration with Walmart. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that I love!

A few weeks ago when I spoke about the self tanner I am using, I had a few DM’s from you about avoiding razor burn and since I am featuring a new razor today, I figured this would be the best time to talk about that! Summer time can be tricky with all that shaving us ladies have to do. I swear, I jump up and down with excitement when it’s winter since I don’t have to shave…. really at all – ha! Walmart is one of stops, especially in the summer since their plant selection is ON POINT. The other day when I picked up my gorgeous peonies (for just $15) I also scooped up this joy Razor and I just LOVE it – more on that in a bit!

How to Avoid Razor Burn & Bumps in the Summer

1.) EXFOLIATE. As dreadful as it can be – it is SO important for a lot of different reasons but for shaving specifically it helps remove dead skin and keeps the opening of the hair follicles healthy! I use a hand made scrub with this and it works great!

2.)  Shave towards the end of your shower, so that the heat and water soften the skin and open the pores. This allows you to get a closer shave and spare you from razor burn as well!

3.) Grab some coconut oil as your “shaving gel”. You’ll get a closer shave and it will leave your legs feeling, oh so soft!

4.) Always shave against the grain. This will prevent razor burn AND you will be able to shave off more hair this way. Using the right razor is also key. I’ve been using this joy razor lately and it is great! The packaging gets an A+++ from me……

it has a lubrastrip that decreases your chances of razor burn. I actually never even use a shaving “cream” or “gel” with this razor since it has this strip on it!

5.) Make sure that you moisturize as soon as you get out of the shower!
