We recently escaped for Mother’s Day weekend to the Catskill Mountains and stayed at this beautiful airbnb! This greenhouse had three bedrooms and two full baths and it was the perfect size for our family. We rarely travel anywhere without staying at an airbnb because it’s just so much easier to have the space with all the kids! Plus, it’s about the same cost as a large hotel room would be with MUCH MORE convenience. This blog post will have some imagery from the trip along with many suggestions on places to eat and things to do. We didn’t have a chance to get to all of your suggestions but we tried to get a few in! The area of Tannersville itself isn’t a happening place. It’s a very small populated town but you can drive around to get to some beautiful hikes/nature and some really great restaurants!
bfast in the airbnb
Mamas Boys Burgers // a cute little place with the basics – burgers, dogs, shakes!
Brio Pizzeria in Phonecia | this place was AMAZING. They have anything you could ever want on the menu and the service was impeccable and FAST. Highly recommend it with kids!
Gracies in Leeds for bfast/lunch – pick it up before heading over to Olana
Maggie’s Crooked Cafe & Juice Bar | this place was really good but it’s pricey. The portions are HUGE though so keep that in mind. Best pancakes I have ever had!
Other suggestions that we didn’t get to try:
Last chance cafe
Deer Mountain Inn – great for a sit down dinner
Fellow Mountain Cafe | Breakfast all day & lunch | in Hunter
Phoenicia Diner | looks freaking amazing!
THINGS TO DO
Kaaterskill falls via the laurel house road trailhead NOT the mountain road
Olana Historic Site | Frederic Church grounds that you can hike through and the views are STUNNING! Pack a picnic and eat on this hill!
Rip Van Winkle Lake & Park | there is a hiking trail right by here as well as a lake/beach! This playground was great even in the rain!
Other things that we didn’t get to do:
Chairlift to top of Hunter ski resort and hike to the fire tower
Catskill Game Farm | we almost did this but didn’t realize that it was an hour from where we were! Contact the owner and ask for a tour! 🙂
Railway adventures | this looks AMAZING but you would need to have older kids (no babies)
Escarpment trail by North South Lake
Hike Pratt’s Rock
Colgate Lake Hike | came highly recommended!
Overlook Mountain | long up hill path to an old abandoned hotel with beautiful views and a fire tower
