This post is brought to you by Nordstrom & ShopStyle. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that I love!
In case you missed my first post on family outfit inspiration for summer photos, you can head over here where I put together a few different outfits for your family based on your color preferences! One of the things I loved when I was a photographer was dressing up my families for photos! There is something so calming about choosing the color scheme, location, etc. – I loved it! For this shoot, I thought it would be fun to be a little bit bolder with color since I usually stick to mostly neutrals and muted tones! I loved this deep blue dress and chose that first and then everything else after that!
Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the post for two more COMPLETE family outfits to chose from – all from Nordstrom Made Brands!
(so this was the best photo from the group of photos we took – SO TYPICAL but I also love them because #reallife right?! The bugs were eating us alive and we all lasted approximately 7 minutes before running to the car for relief – ha!)
Family Outfit Inspiration for Summer Photos
Since I went a little bit bolder with this shoot, I decided to start off with this blue dress (sold out, another blue one I love here) from Leith and then style the rest of the family based on that one color! It helps to choose the pattern or color you want to feature first and then work from there. I also typically stick with only ONE pattern per family outfit so that it all flows well. I also typically hate the “matchy matchy” look with kids but for this outfit shoot I feel like this worked for my two girls! I just loved the subtle floral print on these dresses from Something Navy’s kids line and it matched with the blue color of my dress perfectly! The girls’ shoes were a huge hit and they’ve been wearing them since they arrived!
For my little man, I ordered two different outfits since I was unsure if the blues would be an exact match. I stuck with this cute romper from Tucker + Tate and sent the other one back! Nordstrom has an awesome return policy so ordering two options is always easy because you can easily send the other ones back!
My husband likes to keep things super simple so I always stick with the same type of outfit for him. Simple khaki shorts and a linen button down (sold out, similar HERE) are always great staples for family photo shoots! He actually loved the way that this linen shirt fit, which is a lot for him since he typically doesn’t love the linen button downs!
Just for fun I searched the site for a few other family outfit options for you guys!
If you end up wearing any of these outfits for your own family photoshoot, PLEASE send me pictures, I would LOVE to see them!
