Choosing a Patio Dining Set - Lynzy & Co.

Choosing a Patio Dining Set

I decided to write this post on choosing a patio dining set after yesterday’s Instagram stories because SO many of you responded asking about what everyone suggested! I did some researching myself and narrowed it down to a few dining sets that I will tell you about in today’s post. I really want to invest in a set that will be LONG lasting because the other one we had lasted a year and then went into the dump. I want it to withstand weather and kids. Preferably I am looking for the set to have the option of swivel chairs but it’s not a deal breaker. As you know, we had a new patio put in this week and we chose this stone here. I am absolutely in love with it! We are also building a cedar gazebo that we got at Costco last year and placing it in the middle of the patio for shade. The dining set will go underneath the gazebo so I created a little collage to get a better idea of what patio set I liked best!

Our stone is Techo Bloc Blu 60 mm in Champlain Gray

Choosing a Patio Dining Set

Choosing a patio dining set does not need to be daunting! I narrowed down a few of the best sets that will be long lasting for your home!

Target is having a pretty huge patio deal right now so ideally I chose one of these sets before Sunday when the sale ends! A few of these sets are from Target and I am a bit worried about how long lasting they will be, although BOTH of these sets came recommended by some of you; so that certainly makes me feel a bit better! I usually prefer to order large bulk items like patio dining sets from Costco because they have an amazing return policy and if something breaks or is worn down 5-10 years down the road, I can bring it back! I absolutely love their customer service.

First up is this Mayhew Dining Set that is currently on sale. I really love this one, even though there are no swivel chairs! I love the brown wicker chairs and the table seems like it could withstand the weather!

Next up is this fairmont dining collection. I love the swivel chairs here and I feel like black may be better up against the cedar gazebo rather than brown on brown? I cannot make up my mind about that! It’s a beautiful set!

Now we have the set that I fell head over heels with and you all know what that means, it’s going to break the bank. WHY do the best ones always have to be the most expensive? Ha! I am obsessed with the concrete slab dining table top! The wicker chairs are gorgeous. Again, no swivel but I am just in love with the overall look. I am unsure whether I like the deep brown or the natural color better?! I am thinking deep brown with the cedar gazebo?

This next set is currently on sale and I am loving that whitewash. I think it would look great against the cedar gazebo and the grey champlain stone. The chairs are adorable too!

Okay so now is where you guys come in! Tell me which one is your favorite and WHY! I will choose two of you to win a Starbucks gift card as a token of appreciation because you guys ROCK.

    1. I would definitely choose option 2! It looks like it will not only wear well over time but go well with the rest of your home. Not to mention that the metal is super easy to wipe down, and refinish if need be down the road.

    2. The black and white would look so good with what you have🖤❕ I might get it for our backyard too! Thanks for putting this post together.

    3. I like option three. I love the different textures of concert and wicker! It seems so classic but also unique as well. I just went through this finding a patio set for my porch, so many options. It makes it hard to choose!

    4. Option 4! I think the color will look great and hold up well over time (less likely to notice distress from elements), and a big bench is awesome with kids!

    5. I really like the espresso chairs with the cement table (option #3). I think the espresso finish on the chairs will really highlight the cedar gazebo. The cement table will add texture and LAST a very long time. And the way wicker chairs look on a patio is just so gorgeous (and brings in even more texture and draws the eyes in). This is a classic set with a modern twist that will last a long time. You get what you pay for with furniture.. I say splurge!

  1. I vote the last whitewash one! Totally your style and I think it would look great with the gazebo! We just purchased the Fairmont set and though we like it (and it’s on sale!) it’s probably gonna have a hard time keeping up with multiple kiddos. 🤷‍♀️

  2. Ah torn between option 1 & 2! 1 looks super comfy but 2 is classic and may wear better with time 😊 so guess I would choose option 2!
Also we bought a small outdoor dining set 5 years ago from target (2 chairs small table) and it still looks great! Usually just scrub it down at the beginning/end of each season!

  3. I really love the whitewashed one. It feels so light and breezy. I also love the swivel chairs cause they are so nice to sit in outside and you can easily see all the kids in the yard and talk to your guests. I’m sorry you have to be the one to make this decision!

  4. I agree that the black will pop more against all the cedar but I love option 3 with the concrete slab and espresso chairs. The others are really pretty too but if you’re unsure of the black set but still want to breakup all the brown, def option 3. The concrete top will break it up!😊

  5. If you are planning on doing black shutters on the house option 2 from Target will match that well so that’s my vote. And you can switch out accent colors on a black and white set easily.

  6. Concrete table and wicker chairs! Love that look! I think it would be versatile and I’m sure it is very durable too.

  7. Option 4 for sure!!! It is gorgeous! Also, don’t go with option 1, we had a metal table like that and it rusted within the year. We live in California so it could be the salt in the air by the ocean 🤷🏼‍♀️.

  8. Definitely option 3! The concrete slab is awesome and perfect for the outdoors! And you’ll get the perfect amount of warmth with the wooden base and the wicker chairs. I’m torn on the color of chairs. Aside from the cedar gazebo I love the natural color- a more Swedish modern tone, but perhaps next to everything else the darker wicker would go better for a more rustic vibe to balance out the modern concrete slab. I think you can’t go wrong with either color. But by FAR 3 is my fave. And if you’re investing in a 10yr set then why not get the most expensive 😉

  9. I like option 2, then second choice option 1! I think a non wood option will hold up better outside. Plus, I think the colors would look best with the gazebo!

  10. Option 3 out of the two more expensive options. Love the concrete! Option 2 out of the more affordable options.

  11. Option 3 for sure! I like the lighter chairs with it, but either would look great. The concrete will hold up SO well. Just so you know if you want to scout it out my friend got a concrete table like that at home goods for way cheap!

  12. Option number 3!! I LOVE the look of the concrete table with the lighter wicker chairs! I think this look best matches your farmhouse style 💕

  13. Caution re: cement…We used to have a poured cement top on our island and it stained so easily – worse than marble because at least marble can hide it. Just something to take in consideration – one glass with condensation and there’s a ring you can never get rid of. It does get better over time when that happens multiple times and the wear looks more loved in but that first year is frustration

  14. I vote option number 3 the one you truly love! If you’ve been saving up to redo your outdoor space then I’m a firm believer to purchase only things you absolutely love! I have a natural wood trestle table bottom with a zinc top in my dining room with wicker chairs from restoration hardware outlet (because it’s a bit more affordable there) and I absolutely love it! And if by chance you have a pottery barn outlet or restoration hardware outlet I highly recommend looking there they may have the same or very similar at a discounted price! We have both outlets where I live and they always have tons of outdoor furniture this time of year! Just food for thought!

  15. I love option 2 because a)the black will pop against the White House and cedar gazebo but still tie into your shutters when you paint them and b) because swivel chairs are a must-have

  16. Go with the splurge! Patio furniture lasts a long time. If you get a different set, you will always think back to the one you REALLY loved and regret not getting that one. Also, swivel chairs seem like a great idea, until the kids discover them and use them for entertainment. 😉

  17. Option 3 looks best with the gazebo but I love option 2 because it look durable and would be gorgeous with the stone.

  18. Option 3 with the darker chairs if you are looking for that dark contrast with the cedar. I like the wicker chairs as they seem safer than the chairs with slats as the back as little arms would likely try to get stuck in them. Just food for thought.

  19. I like the black and white!! Also, swivel chairs just seem like the perfect choice for patio furniture. 😊

  20. Option 2! It would contrast against the stone and gazebo, so that not everything is brown. That set has swivel chairs, a classy look and it’s metal so it’ll last a long time!

  21. I like option 1. The arms aren’t too big and bulky so the kids can get in and out easily. Plus it seems to match your style.

  22. Option 4! Great mix of style and function plus the whitewash will definitely pop against your cedar. I also think option 2 will show dust and pollen much more because it’s black (our black metal set does this…worst).

  23. I would go with option 3 if it’s durable and can withstand kids (my boys are rough on tables). I like to think long term with pieces like this and the investment although bigger in the beginning will average out of it lasts. I’m tired of getting stuff that’s less expensive only to have to purchase it again because it isn’t durable. I also do like option 4 if you’re looking for something more cost effective.

  24. Option 4! We just bought this table (I got different chairs, but I loved these!). It is such great quality for the price. I feel like it will last for a long time. We put a cover on it when it rains. I’m in love with it, and I think you will like it, too.

  25. I love Option 2! I think it will look amazing with your house and gazebo! I bought my outdoor patio set from target 3 years ago and it has held up so well. And you can’t beat that price.

  26. Option 3!!!! The legs of the the table compliment the Gazebo and the top of the table compliment the stone!!! The quicker chairs give it that warm cozy feeling outside. The table looks really durable and easy to clean. It will be beautiful when it’s all finished. Good luck. 😀

  27. Option 3! Now that may be because I’ve had my eye on the exact table. 🙂 in the end, we are going with poly furniture from the Amish. It’s made out of recycled plastic and is 99% maintenance free in summer and winter! Lots of designs lots of colors. We had a cute table from World Market and that thing lasted 1 summer. If it rained you had to cover it. Sorry I have kids so I don’t have time to babysit a table from rain 24-7.

  28. I would pick up option 3. Love the combo of concrete and wicker. I think they will last a lot longer than the metal too. My outdoor metal dining table set is rusting already after 4 years. It’s from Home Depot though. My next table I am not doing metal.

  29. Option 4!! This set just looks comfy and you can spend hours at the table drinking and eating while still being comfy.

  30. I love the option 3 with the espresso chairs! I love the rustic look of the table and the chairs look comfy. Lastly, the concrete table will be long lasting!

  31. I would for option 3 with the dark wicker chairs! I know patio furniture can be expensive but I think you get what you pay for. I love the look of the concrete table top and think it will be a piece that will last forever! Our friends have a concrete table and they love it. You also won’t have to worry about it blowing away!!! Ha! I also think these pieces are timeless and won’t be something you will get tired of!

  32. I like Option 2! You can’t go wrong with the durability of steel, especially in harsh weather! I think the dark color will compliment your home and gazebo nicely. AND the swivel chairs. Swivels are the best!

  33. Option 2! The black and white is so classic. It will be a nice contrast to the brown Gazebo. The option to have swivel chairs is also a major plus. Lots of good options but 2 is the best.

  34. I vote option 2 or 4! (am I allowed to pick two?! 😉 I feel like each one would go well with the stone and not compete with it. Also, both would blend beautifully with the style of your home! Can’t wait to see what you choose 🙂

  35. All are great options for one reason or another, but to only choose one, I pick option 3. Love the look, durability (I assume) and just how inviting it looks. Can’t wait to see it all come together!

  36. Option 3. I think the concrete top is really cool and will last longer. However I don’t know much about long lasting outdoor furniture because we live in South Florida and nothing lasts more than one or two summers in the sun! And I like the espresso chairs, nice contrast to the tile and gazebo. Good luck!

    1. But I do know that if you want long lasting go for teak…very expensive but last forever in all climates! 🙂

  37. Love option 3! I wish you could do something like the table for option with chairs from option 2 in the right color, but I think 3 is the best of both worlds (except swivel chairs)!

  38. Definitely option 2! I love the look of the wicker, but you can’t beat the practicality of the metal. Plus the swivel! I think the metal set would be much more durable and easier to clean than the wicker.

  39. I love option 2! You can’t go wrong with classic black and white. No matter what you choose I know it will look great! Good luck! 😊

  40. I love them all, but after seeing your gazebo and stone selections, I would opt for 2 if you want a timeless look that will also pop against the colors. I really love 3 with your color scheme though- it would blend seamlessly!

  41. Option 4! I think the color will look great and hold up well over time (less likely to notice distress from elements), and a big bench is awesome with kids!

  42. Option 3!!! I was by it at Target all the time all set up and it looks soooooo good! Waiting for our deck to be finished so i can purchase it as well!

  43. Option 3 or 4! I think the white wash is your style and super cute and I love the bench, but I also think option 3 matches a the stone and gazebo better and will be better with time because of the concrete too!

  44. We have option one. Do NOT buy it. The aluminum table is so light weight that it blows over with the slightest wind. It only last one summer

  45. Option 1, I love option 3 as well but I think option 1 looks very similar and if it is the cheaper option for the same look I say go for it! I’m obsessed with the wicker and the dark table will pop against your house. I’m clearly playing devil’s advocate because everyone loves option 3 but I think option 1 is such a similar look! Whatever choice you make is going to look amazing! Best of luck!

  46. Okay I LOVE the concrete table (option 3) but I’m not 100% sold on the wicker chairs with it. Maybe some black metal chairs to go with it? Or option 4, km a bug fan of too!! Good luck!! 🙂

  47. Option 1! I love the chairs and the classic look of the table. If you don’t like that one go with option 4!

  48. I think the concrete table with the fairmont swivel chairs would be such a pretty sight. The concrete table can be either modern or farmhouse how you like it. If you get bored of one you will be able to change and style it so many ways because it’s not classical or traditional and it would be durable with your kids. The swivel chairs would allow you to maneuver and watch your kids with minimal movement to be done. Lol.

  49. Option 2! The black & white is just classic and the chairs look so cozy for long evenings on the patio! It definitely goes with your vibe!

  50. Option 3 with natural color hands down. While it may be the most expensive, having high quality furniture is worth it. It easily looks the highest quality (at least from the pictures), and the natural I think matches your stone and gazebo colors better with a lighter tone. Also I tend to like lighter tones for outdoor furniture as colors tend to fade over time in the sun. Wicker chairs will be easier to move around (light) and the cushions look comfy.

  51. Option 2! You can’t go wrong with classic black and white. I think it would look great with the stone and gazebo. But any of the options would look amazing!

  52. I say option 4! The contrast with your pergola would be so pretty, and I like the bench that mixes it up!

  53. Option 2. Black and white goes with everything and never goes out of style. Pillows and other accessories are easier to get pops of color with it too. It goes great with your patio and gazebo and the chairs are better with kids. Easier to clean than the wicker and kids like to swivel. ☺️

  54. I like 2 and 3!! I’m on a black and white kick right now and I ❤️ the concrete top and swivel chairs with #3 too!!

  55. Love option 3 in the espresso wicker! First of all, I am obsessed with the concrete table and I think it will make clean up super easy/less maintenance. Plus you don’t have to worry about conditioning the tabletop if you had an all wood one. Second of all, I love Pottery Barn! 😍 Haha…good luck! I’m sure whichever you end up with will look amazing when it’ll all be put together!

  56. Option 4! I just bought it with the black and white bistro chairs and it’s so pretty!! You will love it. The quality is great also, and it’s large!!

  57. I love option 3. I think the concrete would be low maintenance and it gives the space personality. Option 4 is in second place for me.

  58. I would go with option 4 I think the light wash will contrast well with the stone, gazebo, and those gorgeous trees in your yard.

  59. Black is nice but also very predictable. Option 3 is nice right now but the concrete industrial look is a trend. Option 4 is timeless. The simple lines, the unexpected style of chair and the color make it easy to change the entire look by changing accessories. What a tough decision. They are all great

  60. Hi Lynzy

I don’t mean to confuse you, but we just purchased a new outdoor dining set from Lowes. It has swivel chairs and a nice table. The 5 pieces cost $399 ! It is called Skytop from Garden Treasures. The chairs are padded so you don’t have to deal with dirty cushions that I absolutely hate! The set that we got only seats 4, but they have larger sets for bigger families. We put it together when we came home and absolutely love it!!!
We have been looking everywhere for the perfect set! We have a pergola which has a cover that compliments the furniture!
