From the age of 5 until I was out of college I suffered from being lactose intolerant. It was quite miserable considering the slightest bit of dairy would send my stomach into a downward spiral for the rest of the day. I had to be very careful about what I ate and being shunned from eating ice cream was not very much fun. I am collaborating with fairlife ultra-filtered milk today to tell you a little bit about it and also to give you one of my favorite morning smoothie recipes.
fairlife ultra-filtered milk is regular milk but with a few very important differences. For those that are Lactose intolerant, this milk is where it’s at. fairlife filters out most of the lactose, converting what little remains with an enzyme. Other lactose-free milks convert all the lactose with an enzyme, making their milk taste sweet. It has half the sugar when compared to regular milk and boasts 13 grams of protein in one serving! There are no added protein powders or other junk. Just clean and yummy. That’s all!
I wish this was around when I needed it! This would have been the perfect alternative for me. Fortunately, I haven’t had as many issues with being lactose intolerant after my two children. I have no idea how that relates, but my body is able to digest dairy better now after children. If someone has the scientific answer to why that is, I would love to hear it!
Now on to my boost of energy morning smoothie! Being a very busy mom of 2 makes it difficult at times to stay healthy while being on the go! Breakfast can be especially difficult while getting Olivia ready for school, the baby fed and myself dressed. Smoothies are my main go-to since they are packed with nutrients and keep my hunger at bay until I can sit down for a proper lunch. This smoothie is packed with protein and antioxidants. Perfect for the busy mama!
