Getting creative in the kitchen when it comes to baby purees can be fun! I wanted to create this apple cinnamon oatmeal puree in celebration of the chilly fall season. Ellie has graduated to eating solid food and we did more of a baby led weaning approach, but this puree is the perfect bowl of oatmeal for your baby to start his day! It is chock full of vitamins and iron and takes delicious. I totally taste test everything I make so that I know it’s tasty for baby!
This puree will only take you a few minutes to throw together and you can make a bigger batch and save them for the upcoming week too! I use these containers here to make it easy to store and have the servings already cut for us! They are easily stored in the fridge and I just grab one and heat it up in the morning!
- 4 apples
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup uncooked baby oatmeal
- Peel, core and chop the apples and place them into the blender along with all the other ingredients.
- Puree until smooth.
- You can also choose to warm this puree up a bit via the stovetop on the low setting for just a few minutes. Make sure to test the puree before serving it to your baby
For this recipe, I picked up some GERBER BABY Oatmeal Cereal at my local Wal-Mart store. I used this quite frequently when Ellie was smaller (around the 6 month mark). The GERBER baby oatmeal is packed with all the vitamins and nutrients your baby needs, including up to 90% of your baby’s daily needed intake of iron (in 2 servings). There is quite a variety of cereals to choose from so if your baby doesn’t like one, you can always try another!
