5 Easy Trader Joe’s Holiday Appetizers

I love this time of year; and I’ll be honest, a BIG reason for that is because of all the yummy food! My love for holiday food may only be matched by my love for Trader Joe’s, so why not combine the two? In this post I’m sharing 5 easy holiday appetizers all made with ingredients you can find at Trader Joe’s, and all with 4 ingredients or less!

1. Caprese Salad Bites

This is a fun twist on caprese salad. These are really simple to make, delicious, and pretty to look at! I love Trader Joe’s balsamic glaze which is perfect for this. You can use any cherry tomato you like, but I love the flavor of the Marzano tomatoes so that is usually what I go for.

Fresh Basil

Ciliegine (fresh mozzarella balls)

Marzano tomatoes (or cherry tomatoes, depending on your preference)

Balsamic glaze

Cut your tomatoes in half and prepare basil: I like to use smaller basil leaves or cut large leaves into smaller pieces. Place mozzarella ball on a toothpick, then add a leaf of basil, and finish with tomato half. Drizzle balsamic glaze on serving tray and add your caprese bites on top.

2. Sweet & Salty Goat Cheese Cracker

Let’s be honest, goat cheese isn’t for everyone. It’s definitely a strong flavor; but it’s really balanced in this with the sweetness of the fig and honey,

and the saltiness of the olive and pistachio.  It will turn anyone into a goat cheese lover!

Fig & Olive Crisps

Chèvre (goat cheese)

Place about a 1/2 teaspoon amount of goat cheese on each cracker. Top with 2 pistachios and drizzle with honey.

3. Smoke Salmon Cucumber

This smoked salmon dip is to die for, and pretty much does all the work for you in this appetizer. The cucumber is so refreshing and the capers add the perfect amount of salt!

Hothouse cucumber

Smoked Salmon Dip

Slice cucumber into pieces about ¼ inch thick. Top with a dollop of salmon dip (I put mine in a zip loc baggie and cut a hole to make it easy). Place 2-3 capers on each cucumber slice.

4. Mini tacos with Red & Green Salsa

This one could NOT be easier. I’m skeptical about frozen meals, but just trust me, these tacos are delicious and taste super fresh! I used their beef tacos which have shredded beef

and gives them a street taco feel. They also have them in chicken, if you prefer that. The red and green salsas add a little festive touch.

Mini Tacos (chicken or beef, find in freezer aisle)

Salsa Autentica

Salsa Verde

Sour cream

Cook tacos according to package directions. Plate and serve with salsa and sour cream.

5. Chicken & Waffle Bites

Yum! A small taste of down south…these are sweet and savory and turn a well-known comfort food into a fun small bite.

Chicken breast nuggets (from the freezer aisle)

Toaster waffles (also from the freezer aisle)

Pure maple syrup

Bake chicken nuggets according to package directions. Once done, let cool a bit while you toast waffles.

Cut waffles and nuggets into bite size pieces and place onto toothpick. Drizzle with a little maple syrup.

Well there you have it, 5 simple and delicious appetizers for your next holiday get together. Enjoy your trip to Trader Joe’s

and just let your friends and family think you’re a fancy chef; no one needs to know how easy these really are!
