As your baby grows, it can be very difficult to keep them on track and eating healthy foods on a daily basis. Speaking from experience, it is a LOT easier to have your kids eat a processed bowl of cereal rather than cooking some eggs and putting together a well rounded meal. Not to say that cereal is terrible because my kids eat it quite frequently! I went to Ellie’s 2 year physical about a month or so ago and I was asked if she still got a sippy cup of milk every day. I responded with “No, but she does occasionally have a bowl of cereal with milk in it!” I thought that this was the right answer but my sleep deprived brain was very wrong. It is so crucially important to incorporate calcium and vitamin D into your little one’s diet and I wasn’t giving Ellie enough. She needed to have at least one full daily serving of calcium, and vitamin D in her diet and Stonyfield Organics is that way that I did that.
Each day I will give one Stonyfield YoBaby ® organic yogurt to Ellie either at breakfast or for lunch, this way I know that she is getting the calcium, and vitamin D that her body needs. On top of those nutrients, she is also getting probiotics. Stonyfield recently added the probiotic BB12 in their YoBaby line for happy tummies. Did you know that 77% of parents of children under age 2 do not incorporate probiotics into their children’s diet? Probiotics help regulate your baby’s gut health and they are excreted first through breastmilk and that is how your baby is introduced to them. Once they aren’t breastfeeding, they no longer receive the probiotics unless they are given some other way. As mentioned before, probiotics regulate gut health but they also regulate stools, support immunity and keep your baby
Dr. Tanya Altmann wrote a post for Stonyfield yogurt and talked about her favorite foods to find at the grocery stores when it comes to introducing children to healthy options. Everything from eggs and avocados to nut butters and green vegetables. Introduce them early on and consistently. Research has also shown that the earlier you introduce high allergen foods, the less likely your child will be to developing an allergy. The best thing about Stonyfield YoBaby ® organic yogurt is that you can introduce it as early as 6 months! This yogurt contains calcium and vitamin D for growing bones as well as BB-12 ® to help support digestive health!
I have been getting a lot of questions in regards to when we will start solids with Miles and typically I wait for my kids to let me know (heavy eye contact while we are eating and interest in our food is the greatest sign). I am thinking somewhere between 5-6 months. Once he is 6 months, I will be introducing Stonyfield YoBaby ® organic yogurt because of all of it’s nutrients! Once that time comes, I will definitely give you guys the low down on what he is eating and how often! 🙂
YUP. This is Ellie in a nutshell. That’s her “nah, mom. I’m not doing it” face 😉
