Holiday Traditions

This post is in collaboration with Gymboree. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that I truly love and that make this blog possible!

The holiday season is so special to me and has been since I was a little girl. I am teaming up with Gymboree today to tell you about our holiday traditions and what we love to do with the kids during the holiday season! For the last few years one of our favorite things to do is go on The North Pole Express train. It's insane because it books up SO fast months beforehand but lucky for us we have a friend who books an entire train for all of us! We all dress in our holiday pajamas and head onto the train! Our oldest is 4 this year and I know that she will be more excited than ever to meet Santa and his whole crew on the North Pole Express.

Once we get home on Christmas Eve, we make sure to write our notes to Santa along with setting out some cookies and milk. We tuck the girls in after reading the Night Before Christmas and prepare for the morning after they are in bed! There is so much magic during the holidays and I hope that I instill in them, what my mother instilled in me when I was a little girl.

Gymboree has some amazing options for holiday jams for the little ones. Liv picked out the pajamas for her brother and sister and loves them! Every Christmas Eve we head to my family's party and when it's over, the girls snuggle up in their pajamas for the car ride home. We also implemented a tradition from when I was a little girl. After all the presents are opened and our tummies are full, one of the adults sneaks outside and rings the "angel bells", which means that Santa is on his way and we need to get in the car to go home! It was one of my favorite parts about Christmas Eve and the magic of it all!

This year will also be the first year that I introduce an advent calendar! We scooped one up that will go in their playroom and I am going to fill them in with stickers, pencils, little games and things I can find at the dollar store! Do you use an advent calendar? What do you typically fill yours in with?! Once the girls & Miles are a bit older, we plan to volunteer at a few places in our community as well. Giving back is the most important part of the holiday season and I was to introduce the girls to the importance of it while they are young!

Lastly, we will most definitely be watching Elf on repeat. Actually, if I am being honest, we already started watching it back in September! If you had a chance to see our Halloween Costumes here, you'll know how much we love Elf! 😉  Other close contenders? Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and The Polar Express! What are your favorite holiday movies?! My favorite movie to watch with my girlfriends is Love Actually!

The holidays truly are the #besttimetobeakid and I love that this Gymboree campaign expresses that perfectly through this holiday line! Happy Holiday Season everyone!

My girls are 7 and 4 and we started with an advent calendar 2 years ago. Instead of filling all the drawers with toys and treats I write a note in each one for the day. I include things like “make Christmas cookies”, “visit Santa” etc on the days we are doing those things and also include things like “do something nice for someone today” – “tell someone how much you love them” – “shovel a neighbors driveway” etc. little acts of kindness they can do or help with. I also have some “open a present” notes mixed in and wrap about 10 new to them books (some new some thrifted) so they can open a book that day. It’s really fun and something they look forward too without having all those little trinkets around the house:) best wishes to you.

That is such a great idea! I can’t wait until my little one is older and we can do the same thing!!

I grew up with a felt Christmas tree Advent calendar and each day there’s a new ornament to add. I recreated it for my kids and their cousins. I love it! My favorite Christmas movie of all times is White Christmas. Kids’ movie the old Grinch. My parents buy the grandkids Christmas pajamas for Christmas Eve every year. I love Christmas and traditions! One of my favorites is baking lots of special candy and cookies for our Christmas party, church, amd work friends.

Christmas is so special for the little ones! It’s extra special for our family because my oldest is born on Boxing Day. We love and do some of the same traditions and hope to start some new ones this year with our new baby who will be almost 6 months old then!! Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!

This is great!! So let’s talk Christmas jammies! I always used to get the kids their Christmas jammies as a gift they can open Christmas Eve. But I started getting sick of only having a day to wear Christmas jammies! Yes I know they can wear them after and they do but the spirit is gone. So if I buy some new jammies and maybe do the Polar express which we have here in Buffalo too, Is there any Christmas Eve little gifts they can open? They don’t have to but I always thought it was exciting to get to open one. Plus in think it helped my mom calm me down. 🤗🎄
