Living by the beach means that we are outside much more often and in the sun’s rays more often as well. To keep ourselves protected, that means much more sunscreen and a better hair care routine. To be honest, I am not much of a beauty or hair care routine type of gal but I have become better about that as I have aged. Having children has taught me to make sure that I am also taking care of myself (because they need you to feel good too!)

One of my favorite ways to wear my hair has always been with the salt water from the ocean. I have this funny texture to my hair and whenever it hits the salt water, it curls slightly and I love that! The important thing to remember when you live near the beach is that your strands don’t dry out from the sun and salt! So, today I am sharing a post on what I am currently doing with my hair to make sure that it stays healthy!

I make sure to only wash my hair every few days. This allows it to retain moisture and not dry out. I am currently washing and conditioning with Garnier’s Whole Blends line. The particular scent I am currently using is the green apple extracts products and they smell divine. I have noticed a pretty significant improvement in the moisture and condition of my locks after using this shampoo for the past two weeks. I love the way my hair smells afterwards, but that is secondary to the way it feels 😉 I have tried this entire Whole Blends line and can truly attest to the way that it makes my hair feel and I love it!

I try to towel dry my hair whenever possible. Typically, I shower at night and then let my hair air dry before bed. If it’s completely dry, I will either put it into a French braid or a top bun so that in the morning, I have some natural curls. All without the help of a hair dryer or curling iron. This protects your strands against the harsh heat that these styling products give off.

Lastly, protect those strands from the sun’s rays if and when you can. Leave a large brimmed sun hat in your car for when you are out in the sun. Your hair will thank you!
