Whenever someone typically thinks of a photo shoot, they tend to think “get dressed to the nines with dresses, floral crowns, and blah blah blah”. But my favorite shoots? Are the ones that are in your everyday wear when you are doing your “everyday” things. This little strip of beach is just about 5 minutes from us and it’s my favorite spot. It has a beautiful view of the ocean and a little hike/walk across the rocks. Olivia loves the stairs (up/down, up/down, up/down) and it’s the perfect spot for photos. Pick a spot that is a place you love to bring your children. Wear simple clothing. Denim will do just fine. Neutrals are always great for the camera and they will be “timeless” for years and years to come. These are the photographs your children will look back on when they are bearing their own children….
I LOVE the way that linen shirts look in photographs. Not to mention they are super comfy. I bought one for my husband and he couldn’t believe how soft and comfy they were, we have been buying them ever since. Old Navy even sells them for an affordable price as well. His Born ‘Allan’ Shoes are his new favorite go-to. They feel like you’re walking on a cloud (I am guilty of wearing them to run outside here and there) and this is the first time he’s actually told me that he likes something fashion related (this is a huge step in the right direction – HA!) They are the perfect “dad” shoe since we are chasing after the kids often and you need to put comfort first, always.
I opted for my favorite high-rise denim. The perfect mom jeans. If you follow me on snap chat (lynzy_coughlin) then you know exactly what I am talking about! I wear these several times a week and I would almost buy another pair just so that I could have them when I needed to wash the other pair (but my husband would think I was crazy). This Free People sweater is COZY as can be and the perfect layering piece for the chilly breeze at the beach. I wear my babies as often as I can and our wild bird sling is a new addition to my collection of carriers and Ellie loves being next to me! My Born ‘Belluno’ Sandals are equally as comfortable and they are now my go-to sandal for all of my errands and activities. I was a bit worried about it being a “thong sandal” but actually, it doesn’t bother me at all! The perfect sandal for moms on the go!
Rompers/Jumpers are always my favorite piece to dress Olivia in for photos. She is comfortable and they look so darn adorable on them. I linked to a few other options above if you are in the market for one and they are all less than $20!
So when it comes to photos, think comfort and neutrals. Instead of the usual fancy schmancy attire that everyone hates wearing (or at least I do). Because who the heck can actually have photographs done while wearing heels and a dress (while chasing their children)? Not me! 🙂
