This is part TWO in our Kitchen/Dining Room Makeover. You can see our complete Kitchen Makeover here. So there is actually a formal dining room area through that door you can see on the left of the before picture. However, we made our formal dining room into a playroom and put our dining area where our kitchen is (because there is plenty of room)! As you can see from the before pictures, the dining area was VERY dark. I LOVE the fireplace (one of the reasons I fell in love with this house) but I hated all the dark surrounding wood and wanted to brighten everything up a bit. Thankfully, my father can renovate ANYTHING and helped us with this entire project (thanks a million, Dad!) He ripped out all of that old barn wood along the walls and put up bead board and a ton of molding. I love the molding that was placed around the fireplace, it totally makes it all pop. All of the brown wood was then painted white throughout the dining room and kitchen. My father also framed the beams with some molding as well, which I just love. You can see that being done in the progress pictures below.
Some before pictures and progress pictures!
……8 weeks later….we have a finished dining room. YAY!
I have one last area of the kitchen to show you to complete the series. I still have some painting to do, so that will come in a few weeks!
