Diaper Bag Essentials & Lily Jade Giveaway!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of LILY-JADE. The opinions and text are all mine. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that we truly love and that make this blog possible!

After having three kids, I think it’s safe to say that I have nailed down my diaper bag essentials. I was a bit carried away after our first baby and I basically packed a suitcase whenever we managed to actually leave the house, which was few and far between. For whatever reason, I deemed it necessary to bring the entire house with us to make sure we have EVERYTHING we would need. I look back at my past self and laugh because it really was completely ridiculous. I have narrowed down my list significantly now and my bag is a lot lighter because of that 😉 In today’s blog post, I talk about my essentials that I bring with me everywhere we go!

First step is choosing a diaper bag that you know will be efficient, last through wear and tear and be spacious enough for everything you need. When Lily Jade reached out to collaborate, I was so excited to try out their Shaylee bag because it converts from a messenger bag to a backpack in just seconds. I also just love this cognac color because it goes with everything! It even has this inside organizer that comes out from the bag separately and contains a changing pad as well. The more pockets the better, in my opinion! I love being organized and all the separate compartments allow my OCD to run wild 😉

Diapers and wipes are a given. Right now we need diapers for both Ellie and Miles, so I bring a few of each for both of them. I also throw in a pair of extra underwear for Olivia in case she needs them. Along with the baby wipes, I also pack antibacterial wipes because those always come in handy when wiping down tables, high chairs, cleaning hands, etc. The bag already contains a changing mat, so need to worry about that! I also pack burping cloths (great for burping, but also to clean up messes too)! My favorite ones are these here but I also stocked up on good ole’ cloth diapers because they work perfectly as burping cloths, cleaning messes, etc!

I love having some activities to whip out of my bag if we need them at a restaurant or in the car, so I always have little sticker books, mini coloring books and a few crayons on hand! I typically love for my kids to be creative with whatever is around them rather than using anything electronic. I always carry a few snacks in case we need those as well. Granola bars, chex mix, or some raisins always work well!Lastly, a change of clothes for each child. You NEVER know what will happen when you leave the house so I always bring a change of clothes for everyone. For Miles, I bring two or three since blow outs and spit up happen so frequently right now!

Tell me what you pack in your diaper bag! Are there any items that are MUST HAVES for you?

Now time for a giveaway! Good LUCK! 🙂

I am definitely an over packer, I take EVERYTHING as well because you don’t know what will happen while you’re out. Then again, I am a first time mom so that could be why I over pack.
I always bring a small handful of diapers and a pack of wipes. I also pack one to two spare outfits, depends on how long we will be out.
Since my daughter is fighting acid reflux right now, I carry multiple bibs and burp cloths. You can never have too many.
With her acid reflux she is also on multiple medications, which I bring with me so I do not get her off schedule. She takes stuff at 11, 1, 3 and right before bed.
Even though my daughter is only a few months old, I also bring toys for entertainment and developmental growth. She loves her dolly right now, as well as her Oball.
I always have a Milk Snob and a spare blanket in my bag. MilkSnob is perfect to cover her up if it’s sunny or cold out. Also she sleeps better in public with a little privacy from her MilkSnob.
Lastly, I bring a small soft shell cooler for breastmilk. Talia has never been very good at latching on, therefore, I have to pump frequently which requires refrigeration. Slightly embarrassing but as a mom you do what you have to for you baby!

  12. November 8, 2017 / 8:04 pm

Our baby girl E is due this November 14th, and we couldn’t be more excited!
I have already over packed her diaper bag because I’m a first time mom and I have no idea what I will really be using!
Extra outfits, babies always have accidents. Plenty of diapers and wipes since NB’s use 10-12 diapers a day!! Don’t forget to pack the diaper rash cream, a couple of rattles and wooden teethers to keep baby preoccupied and last but definitely not least is a pacifier!!

I have two boys- 3 and 1 1/2– so I have diapers for the little guy, and extra undies for the big guy! But I always try to keep a gallon ziplock bag in my diaper bag to stash any dirty cloth diapers, or wipes or trash that inevitable accumulates during an outing with two little guys! It’s a great way to keep the dirty items away and sealed from the clean items!

Being a first time mom I rather to be an over packer. I definitely bring at least 6-8 diapers, wipes, hand sanitizer, an outfit for changing, snacks for myself, water bottle, diaper cream, and first aid kit.

My must have is my jjcole diaper changing pad. It’s so essential for portable changing. I’m defiantly a overpacker but at the very least it provides entertainment for my daughter when she pulls everything out!

I’m a new mommy. So for me just essentials right now: diapers, wipes, burping cloth, bib, an extra outfit, extra swaddles, hand sanitizer, Lansinoh ointment. 😁

  19. November 15, 2017 / 2:51 pm

As of right now, I have no clue as to what must haves I need or think I need. I’m due in Feb. so this article was very helpful. One of my co workers turned Me on to the cloth diapers as burp clothes so that’s checked off of the list. It’s funny you say you’d pack a suitcase with your 1st child bc I know I said, “I’ll just pack a mini suitcase to have everything in it when I have a baby!!” HA!!!
